This 7.6-acre, multijurisdictional site is located in the Town of Frankfort. The property was home to a small arms and munitions company from 1894 to 1956, followed by a computer parts manufacturer that occupied the site until 1976. It later became the Charlestown Factory Outlet Mall, which featured 53 retail stores and operated until 1991. Various commercial tenants continued to lease space at the site through 2007. Today, the property is vacant with no standing structures.

Identify stakeholders and developers regarding disposition of the property and potential future use for redevelopment. Site investigation ongoing, further investigations needed.

DEC Program Status: 

State Superfund Program – Class C – Remediation has been satisfactorily completed under a remedial program. Several buildings contained containers of hazardous chemicals. Some containers have been removed and some of on-site contamination has been removed.
